Scottish Winter Courses
“Andy is a solid mountain leader, I never once had reason to doubt his skills as a mountaineer or as a guide. I can see why Jagged Globe has chosen him for expeditions to the Greater Ranges and I would be extremely happy if I booked on an expedition and found he was the leader.”|
SR, Snow and Ice Climbing course 2013.
Scotland has long been a training ground for climbers preparing for the Alps and mountaineering in the Greater Ranges. Our Scottish Winter Courses provide you with the skills to join an expedition, venture into the mountains more confidently on your own or tackle a more challenging climbing course.
The programme covers a wide range of instruction, from introductory winter walking to high standard snow, ice and mixed climbing.
We are strategically based near Glencoe in the Western Highlands, which is the best location in Scotland to access a variety of climbing and mountaineering venues, depending on the weather, and snow and ice conditions.
Most of our guides and instructors regularly lead expeditions for us further afield and are able to advise you about your future mountaineering.
93% of Scottish Winter Courses participants gave our Instructors top marks in 2013!Winter 2013 will be remembered as one of the best winters in recent years. Once again, our Instructors excelled. Of the 68 feedback forms received from participants, when asked “Please grade the quality of the instruction overall”, 63 graded it '5' (Excellent), 4 people graded it '4' (Good) and 1 person graded it '3' (Average). In 2012, we achieved 89% - 59 people graded the instruction '5' and 7 people graded it '4'. In 2011, we achieved 92%, with 58 people grading the instruction '5', 4 people grading it '4', and 1 person grading it '3'. For comments from some of these course participants [read more]
