Jagged Globe built its reputation as an early pioneer of professionally run 8,000m peak expeditions. In 1993, we were the first British company to lead clients to the summit of Everest. In 1995, we were the first to lead successful expeditions to all Seven of the Continental Summits. As recently as 2005, we have been setting records by becoming the only company worldwide to have organised two successful Everest expeditions, from both the North and South sides of the mountain, in the same season.

Our zeal for innovation remains undiminished and, each year, we build upon our successes, learn new lessons and refine our itineraries, whilst reviewing and perfecting all of our operations. As a result of this dynamic approach, our programme continues to grow, and we are constantly expanding our activities to match your needs and aspirations. We now have more trekking opportunities, to share our love of and make the mountain environment accessible to more people.

We are a company borne from intimate, hard-won experience gained on many expeditions to the high-Himalaya and beyond. Such experiences are shared by all members of our office staff as active climbing and walking enthusiasts.

History

[South West face of Everest from Kala Patar, 4 kb]"Jagged Globe was originally part of the trekking company 'Himalayan Kingdoms', based in Bristol, UK. Himalayan Kingdoms was founded in 1987 by Steve Berry and myself, and rapidly gained a name for high quality trekking expeditions to the Himalaya. However, as a keen climber, I admit that I was more interested in climbing than trekking. I figured that if we could take people trekking, what else would it take to go beyond base camp and up the mountains themselves? The answer is, an awful lot! But I was not put off... [read more]

Recent Achievements

[Xtreme Everest, 14 kb]Each year we tackle new objectives and explore new areas, as well as repeating expeditions to some of our most difficult mountains. With every trip, there are fine achievements and examples of personal successes. Some of our best moments in 2005-2007 were:

  • The 5th ascent of Cathedral Peak in the Karakoram, using GPS to establish the correct height of the peak - 6,247m.
  • Our 11th successful ascent of the world's highest mountain, Everest in May 2007.
  • Our 11th successful Cho Oyu expedition in October 2007.
