- Cho Oyu 2011
In 2011 we are returning to Cho Oyu for the 16th time. Cho Oyu is the 6th highest mountain in the world, and is frequently described as the "easiest" of the 8,000ers. It can be used as a 'dry run' for those who are considering attempting Everest, to see how they perform above 8,000m.
16 messages, latest 6th Oct 2011 - Everest 2011
David Hamilton is leading our 15th Everest expedition. David will be supported by Andy Chapman. This will be David's 6th expedition to Everest, having previously summited in 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2009. Andy has been leading for Jagged Globe regularly since 1998 and has climbed most of the mountains in our programme, including Cho Oyu, in 2009. This is his first time on Everest. Gavin Melgaard will again be our base camp manager and chef. Gavin joined our team in spring 2010 and was also our chef on Cho Oyu in autumn/fall.
31 messages, latest 27th May 2011 - Makalu 2011
For Spring 2011, we are planning an expedition to the North Side of Makalu, the route taken by the French on the first ascent in 1955 and climbed by the British Services Makalu Expedition in 2008. At 8,463m, Makalu is the world's 5th highest mountain and this will be 7th of the 14 8,000m peaks, which we will attempt. The mountain has had less than 300 ascents by individual climbers and fewer than 10 British ascents. Attempting to climb Makalu is both a challenging and serious undertaking and its remoteness and difficulties make it a step above many other 8,000m peaks.

7 messages, latest 15th May 2001 - The North Col of Everest 2001
The North Col of Everest is steeped in the history of the early attempts to climb Everest, during the 1920s and 30s. Discovered by George Mallory and his team in 1922, it is the key to the ascent of Everest from the north. Until now, anyone climbing to the North Col has needed to have a permit to climb Everest itself. The col has therefore only been climbed by teams attempting to reach the summit of Everest.
