Shishapangma 2004Despatches from this expedition [get by email]
01:00 22nd September (GMT) - Arrival in base campOur team arrived in base camp today (22 September). Base camp is located at 5,640m. The weather has been poor for the past week and we've not had the best of times acclimatising. The weather has picked up in the last couple of days though and all the team are well. There are 10 teams in Shishapangma base camp all together, so that's 80-100 climbers in all. There has not been a lot of progress on the mountain yet, but today teams have begun to move on up. More to follow soon when we have our comms fully set up. David Hamilton, Expedition Leader
01:00 20th September (GMT) - First updateDavid called in this morning on the Iridium phone to say that the whole team are at Chinese base camp today and planning to move to ABC on 22 September. They found the acclimatisation fairly "brutal", but everyone is doing fine and looking forward to getting onto the mountain. Tom Briggs, Jagged Globe UK office
