When one thinks of ski mountaineering in Les Ecrins, one word comes to mind - steep! Both on the up and the down. This is the most advanced tour in this year's programme and offers a superb challenge to experienced ski mountaineers. The skiing is committing, the scenery grandiose and the views stunning. What more is there to say? This is one of the top Alpine ski mountaineering areas.

Start point: Bourg d'Oisans

Outline Programme

Day 1:	Course participants meet at the course base in Bourg d'Oisans at 7pm. Briefing on the week's activities in the evening.
Day 2:	Ascend to the Chatelleret Hut, afternoon ski & skills practise.
Day 3:	Traverse the Col de la Casse Desert to Adele Planchard Hut.
Day 4:	Ascend the Grande Ruine then ski to the Refuge de l'Alpe de Villard d'Arene.
Day 5:	Pic du Neige Cordier night in Refuge du Glacier Blanc.
Day 6:	Roche Faurio (3,730m) return to Refuge du Glacier Blanc.
Day 7:	Pic de Dormillouse then ski out to Monetier. Return to our hotel for our final night before dispersing the following morning.

Pre-Course Skiing Ability

Ski-mountaineering requiring excellent skiing ability and control in all snow types. Steep slopes to 45°, carrying skis, axe and crampon work frequently encountered. You need to be able to enjoy ascending for 5 hours with a 12kg pack.
