We're in the process of updating many of our past Trip Report with larger photos. We are organising a Carstensz Pyramid expedition this summer, so thought it was apt to bring to life Neal Short's report from 2006 with his superb photos. Every Carstensz Pyramid expedition is organised differently and that year, the team visited Habema Lake with the aim of acclimatising before flying directly into base camp by helicopter. Helicopters have proved unreliable I the past, so this August our team will complete the gruelling 6-day jungle trek to the mountain from the village of Sugapa. The expedition leader is David Hamilton (currently on Everest for the 9th time), who has climbed Carstensz twice before, in 2009 and 2010.
