Kilimanjaro - Lemosho Glades - 9 to 19 Feb '18
Written by Leader Deborah Laugharne, February 2018
The whole team reached the summit of Kilimanjaro in good spirits on Saturday morning at 0910.
The team were very well matched with regards to fitness and all had prepared well for their expedition.
The pre expedition weekend had proved very useful for their final preparations and offered a great opportunity for the group to get to know each other a little prior to the trip and to swap contacts.
The weather was great throughout the trip and we enjoyed a windless summit night, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
As we climbed we were treated to a beautiful starry sky with the milky way shining brightly above us.
As usual the final push from Stella Point on the crater rim to the summit was tough, but the mutual support within the team ensured that everyone managed it with a smile.
Due to the great conditions we spent ample time on the summit taking photographs and congratulating each other before heading down to Barafu camp for lunch.
Good friendships were forged during the expedition and plans for the next adventure were hatched whilst relaxing in the Keys Hotel after the climb.
