Kilimanjaro - 21 Dec 03 to 2 Jan 04

Christmas came early for those on this Kilimanjaro trip with a successful ascent of Mt Meru in perfect conditions. Christmas day was then celebrated in style with a 40th Birthday party and Christmas dinner at the Keys Hotel. Boxing day saw the team setting off for their main objective, Kilimanjaro. Good weather and excellent team spirits enabed the group to enjoy the trekking to the high Arrow camp (4,960m). Despite high winds and a flattened mess tent, the team remained enthusiastic and summitted Kilimanjaro at 8.00am on the 30th December. Congratulations to all the team who summitted and especially to Ieuan Donovan (age 10) who marched his way to the summit with Tanzanian, Peter Mtui (age 15).
