Kilimanjaro - 27 Sep to 9 Oct '04

All 10 members of the Jagged Globe expedition to Mt Meru and Kilimanjaro summited on Uhuru Point, 5895m, between 0620 and 0655 on Wednesday, 6th Oct 04. The weather was bitterley cold with 30 to 45kt winds and temperatures of -18C. The successful summiteers were Paul Atkins, Rpb Avery, Paul Hooton, Sandra Howlett,Dave Lindfield, Jim Liness, Martin Morris, Pete Sauntson, Dave Smart and Malcolm Vodden. Seven members of the expedition also summited on Mt Meru, the 4562m acclimatisation peak, between 0615 and 0645 on Thursday, 30th Sept 04. The expedition was led by Gordon Thompson and the in-country support from the Keys Hotel was exceptional. Five members of the expedition also went on safari afterwards visiting the Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Parks. « | »
