Ecuador Volcanoes 2 - 21 November '08

Written by Leader Gaspar Navarrete, November 2008

This team enjoyed 100% success on all five peaks, as well as the overall cultural experience of visiting Ecuador. Eleni D, Bill H, Steve O, Ramiro (local guide) and myself (Gaspar) reached the summits of Pasochoa, Guagua Pichincha, Iliniza Norte, Cayambe and the beautiful volcano of Cotopaxi. We were accompanied by tipical Ecuadorian weather (sunny in the mornings and some showers and snow in the afternoons). David H, who had to return back home earlier because of his shoulder, was always on our minds during the rest of the expedition and we all hope to see him again in the mountains.

This time, the Ecuadorian peaks gave us a bit of everything, from blue skies, sunny days and firm snow to overcast, some short snow storms and good snow conditions in the last 100 metres to reach the summit of Cotopaxi. We all had lots of fun and hope to climb more in the future.
