Scottish Winter Courses climbers feedback

Written by Leader Scottish Winter Guides and Instructors, September 2001

Our 2001 season was shaping up to be the best ever before foot and mouth cut it short. Here is some feedback from participants of last year's Scottish Winter Course:
£It is rare these days that something comes up to your expectations, but when it exceeds them, it comes as quite a shock! The Introductory Course did this for me and I just had to say so. Under the direction of Tim Bird, with the quality of instructors on the course and located at the Ballachulish hotel, you just can£t go wrong...once again, many thanks for such an enjoyable experience£ DC - Introductory Winter Mountaineering 2001

£All staff were excellent in their approach to clients£ knowledge and being flexible to peoples£ differing needs and requests" MR - Introductory Winter Mountaineering 2001

£Dear Steve, I would like to express my admiration and also my gratitude to all the staff concerned with the running of the Scottish Winter Courses this year. I have just returned from Scotland having had one of my most memorable climbing weeks to date, despite the fact that the course I was attending, (Snow & Ice 5), was disrupted by the outbreaks of Foot & Mouth Disease and the subsequent closure of most areas of Scotland and indeed the UK.

This was due solely to the resourcefulness and professionalism of both the course directors, Tim Bird and Malcolm Creasey, and all the Guides concerned. They managed to locate and provide as varied a program as was possible under the circumstances and I was duly impressed, as were all the clients that I spoke to.

Therefore, despite the fact that unforeseen circumstances have blighted this winter's climbing for many, I would appreciate it if you could pass on my gratitude to all concerned, as I remain a very content client of your organisation and will not hesitate to return, nor indeed to recommend your courses and expeditions to any interested parties in the future.
Many thanks...one happy climber!"
