Kilimanjaro 18 September - 29 September 2001
Written by Leader Rosie Goolden, October 2001
Given the web of logistical problems that blocked our way [Baggage delays courtesy of KLM - Ed.], this trip was suprisingly successful! On Meru, all but two of the group made it to the summit, while all group members who attempted Uhuru Peak on Kilimanjaro summited. The temperatures were kind to us: we were never too hot and on summit day people coped very well with the cold. There was little wind to speak of.
The group enjoyed seeing the game animals and some were lucky enough to see an elephant on Meru. The flora and fauna was superb and Tanzania's (our cook!) efforts impressed all of us. A memorable trip in many ways and a fantastic team.« Previous report | Next report »
