Kilimanjaro - 4 February to 16 February 2002

Our first Kilimanjaro trip of the year went well, with "a happy team" according to leader, Helen Caudrey. On the acclimitisation peak, Mount Meru (4,556m), 10 out of 12 of the group summited and enjoyed it but found it much harder then they had expected. Four of the team went down with diarrhoea which was a shame as we were all being careful. One member did not recover well and turned back early on Kilimanjaro, the remaining 11 summited on Uhuru Peak.

The first team met Andy Teasdale's group on the way out, all 11 of them made it to the top of Mt Meru and were having a rest day before heading off to Kilimanjaro. I will do the report next week and send it to you. I am working in Scotland from Monday. I will ring you in the week and we can decide how to get the gear back to you and talk about the trip. « | »
