This is a small, flexible expedition to discover the ski mountaineering delights of the Argentine and Chilean Lake District. You will travel with a great team of fellow skiers enjoying superb skiing and beautiful scenery fuelled by excellent food and wine. This will be Guide, Jim Blyth's sixth trip to this wonderful region and hopefully he will be accompanied once again by his Argentine colleague and friend Nico. If not, it will be with someone that Nico recommends.

In Argentina the principal objective is to ski tour round Bariloche, perhaps with an ascent of Cerro Tronador, followed by 3776m volcano Lanin. The Chilean part of the trip will concentrate on volcanoes in southern Araucania such as Villarrica 2806m, Osorno 2662m, Casablanca 1990m, Lonquimay 2865m and Llaima 3125m. The programme will remain fully flexible to allow us to make the very most of weather and conditions. Most of the mountains will be skied as day trips if access roads are open as expected. Some of the days will be long. There are many highlights but one will certainly be skiing Lanin. We will drive on poor days, skiing on the good ones.

Weather and temperatures should be similar to those encountered ski touring in Europe.
