An ascent of North Africa's highest mountain

Introduction

Mount Toubkal in Morocco is a justifiably popular trek, being easily accessible from Marrakech via the village of Imlil - the gateway to the High Atlas Mountains. During the winter months, the ascent from the Neltner Refuge at 3,207m to the 4,167m is often on snow and may require the use of crampons. If you're looking for a week-long winter break combining both culture and rugged trekking, this is an action-packed trip. All Jagged Globe Winter Toubkal Climbs have a UK leader as well as a Moroccan guide.

Join us on Mount Toubkal

  • Climb Mount Toubkal with a mountaineering company that specialises in high-altitude ascents
  • Acclimatise around the village of Imlil before ascending to the Neltner Refuge
  • Jagged Globe leaders from the UK, supported by our excellent English-speaking Moroccan guide
  • Mules are used to carry the team's equipment, so you only need to carry a daypack

Experience Required

Mount Toubkal in winter is suitable for fit walkers who are used to trekking on rough, sometimes rocky ground for 7 - 8 hours. Summit day involves walking on snow which can be icy and although not steep, you may need to wear crampons. Previous use is recommended, though not essential.

The cost of going private can be surprisingly reasonable, particularly if you take the self-led option. Please contact us to discuss the itinerary and your preferred dates.
