Cho OyuTrip ReportsThe expedition is ideal for experienced mountaineers who wish to participate in a well-supported, professionally-led team. Team members from 12 of our 14 Cho Oyu expeditions have reached the summit. In the past five years 2005-2009 all of our expeditions to Cho Oyu (Manaslu in 2008) have been successful. Not only is this record unmatched by any other UK expedition operator, few operators worldwide have summited in both difficult weather years - 2007 and 2009. In autumn/fall 2005 our team, led by John Eames, summited in perfect weather on 28 September. Our Spring 2006 team summited on 9 May. The post-monsoon season in 2007 was characterised by heavy snowfall and strong winds. Few teams summited and generally it was the better supported expeditions. Jagged Globe leader, Neal Short, summited with five team members and four Sherpas on 4 October. In the post-monsoon season of 2008, we diverted our Cho Oyu team to Manaslu due to the difficulties in obtaining permits for Cho Oyu. This team battled heavy snow and extended their trip to reach the summit in early October. On 24 September 2009, 10 team members, plus leaders, Andy Chapman and Chris Groves reached the top on our 14th and most successful expedition to the mountain. They descended in poor weather, which precluded later summits that season from some teams. Click to read details of the Cho Oyu expedition.
'It has been a great experience. I know what skills I have to develop in order to accomplish one of my dreams which is to climb Everest.' SV
