Introduction

Innsbruck is an important winter Alpine centre, which we have been visiting for the past two seasons. During the winter months, many world-class icefalls form in the surrounding Tyrol mountains. Within an hour's drive of our excellent 3-star hotel base in Imst, you can access the Stubaital, Zillertal, Ötztal, Kaunertal and Pitztal valleys. These drip with ice in the winter months, offering excellent climbing at all grades. Many of the best climbs are single-pitch, making this is an excellent venue to run a 5-day course suited to those who have no previous ice climbing expeirence. The course is organised on a guiding ratio of 1:4. Pairs of course participants will climb together under the supervision of the Guide.
