Introduction

Just one hour from Innsbruck, the Stubai has a wild, rugged feel to it and is a great location for experienced ski tourers who want to get into the high mountains quickly. On this tour you'll ski some beautiful high mountain passes and summits from mostly large, comfortable and well-equipped mountain huts.

You'll start the week with a quick transfer from Innsbruck in the Jagged Globe van and using the resort lift networks, you'll be whisked to over 3,000m to enjoy a first day of off piste skiing and touring. Using 2 or 3 huts for the rest of the week, there are many options, depending on the conditions and ability of the group, before you return to Innsbruck on Friday afternoon. If you're looking for an action-packed week, in an area with a very different feel to it compared to other areas you may have visited in the Alps, then you should consider this tour.

Outline Programme

Day 1:	Course participants meet at the hotel in Innsbruck at 7pm. Briefing on the week's activities in the evening.
Day 2:	45 minute transfer from Innsbruck to Mutterbergalm. Day skiing, with short tour, overnight at the Dresdner Hut.
Day 3:	Traverse of the Hinter Daunkopf (3,225m), descent to Amberger hut.
Day 4:	Ascent of Kuhscheibenspitz (3,189m), ski descent to Amberger hut.
Day 5:	Traverse to Franz senn hut via Scrankogl (3,432m), or Schrandele (3,393m).
Day 6:	Ascent of Ostl Seespitz (3,416m), ski descent to Franz Senn Hut.
Day 7:	Ascent of Wildes hinterbergl (3,288m), descent to valley, return to Innsbruck.
Day 8:	Dispersal. Breakfast will be provided on the last morning before skiers leave the course.

Pre-Course Skiing Ability

Grade: 10C [ Ski Grading ]
For successful participation on this course you should be a competent ski mountaineer, having completed 2 or more weeks of touring.

Travel & Venue

We recommend that you fly to Innsbruck (for example, with Easyjet who have daily flights from London). Alternatively, you can fly to either Zurich or Munich and travel to Innsbruck from there. The hotel is a 15-minute taxi journey from the airport.

Hotel accommodation in Innsbruck is in the 4-star Sporthotel-Iglis. The hotel is located in Igls/Innsbruck and has a pool and sauna. The accommodation is provided on a twin-share, half-board basis. A single room supplement is payable should you want to have a room to yourself.
