Success on Huascaran
News just in from Mal Haskins and our team in Peru:
" The entire team is now back in Huaraz and leaving for Lima this morning after some spectacular success on the mighty summit of Huscaran a few days ago. Stuart left the group at Camp 1 to head back down and Mal came down with a very nasty bacteria infection at base camp. Despite a 1 day rest Mal had no more energy to go above camp 2. This left the group to summit with our Peruvian guides and incredibly strong porters.
The crew enjoyed a windless summit with the actual climb itself providing some spicy climbing and glacial travel through and under towering Seracs. Huscaran is no easy summit and it's a testament to the whole team's ability to work together, suffer together and motivate each other, that they reached the top."
