Climb the South East Ridge of this stunning 7,000m peak in the heart of the Karakoram

Introduction

Read David Hamilton's 'Breaking the 7000m barrier' article... read more.

This expedition to the Karakoram is a superb opportunity to climb a 7,000m peak in a fabulous range of mountains, far from the regular trekking routes.

You will climb the mountain’s south east ridge. This is a long snow ridge with few sections of technical difficulty and little objective danger. This route was first attempted in 1906 by the American couple Fanny and William Bullock-Workman, who reached a very creditable high point of 6,700m. Karl Kramer's German expedition made the first successful ascent of the mountain by this route in 1955.

From the summit of the mountain clear conditions result in tremendous views in all directions. The Nagar and Hunza peaks can be seen close by to the west, while Nanga Parbat lies to the south and K2 and the Baltoro peaks including K2 can be seen on the eastern horizon.

"Everything about this trip was very well organised and well thought out. We had every resource in place to climb the mountain, had the weather allowed for it. The Pakistani support team were experienced, fun and friendly. They couldn't have been more helpful. Pakistan is a beautiful country and a really interesting place to visit." EJ, Spantik 2019.

Tailor-made option

We can organise this expedition on a ‘tailor-made’ private basis for groups of friends, families, clubs, charities or any other group. Depending on your mountaineering experience, you may want a Jagged Globe leader or go ‘self-led’ with the assistance of local guides. The cost of going private can be surprisingly reasonable, particularly if you take the self-led option. Please contact us to discuss the itinerary and your preferred dates. We will then send you a quote, with no obligation.

You will need a travel insurance policy that caters for the activities you will undertake on your trip with Jagged Globe. It is a requirement of our booking conditions that you have such a policy. The Trek Leader and our local agent will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but an easy going nature will be an asset!
