Nepal Earthquake Update - 29th April 2015 @ 2359 BST

Over to the west of Pokhara, our Dhaulagiri Circuit teams have done well to have trekked out of the mountains, having been told to abandon their journeys just 2 days ago. Our main team, with Rob Wymer, is spending tonight at Jugapani. The private trip for 4 friends has pushed on really well and is at Beni.

In the Khumbu, teams are now complete in Lukla, except for David Hamilton and our Sherpa team who are at base camp until tomorrow. They've done an amazing job of collecting the team membersí belongings that had been scattered across the glacier. They also salvaged what they could of the teamsí tents and equipment, most of which was destroyed by the blast of snow and rock. A large cache remains at Camp 2, and may not be retrieved until next spring. Chris, the deputy leader of our Everest team, completed an amazing feat by walking all the way from Pangboche to Lukla today. He sounded a little weary on arrival and complained of sore legs! He was reunited with the other members of our Everest team, the Grand Journeys trekkers and our Mera & Island Peak team.

The good news of the day was that Paul, who was injured in base camp, was evacuated by air ambulance laid on by the Norwegians. This was after 2 previous false starts due to poor weather and bulked out airport capacity. Nick, who was injured in base camp, is in Kathmandu for another night, waiting patiently for a flight home.

On a technicality: the first Brit survivor of the earthquake was reported to have arrived home today according to BBC news. Yet, 4 of our Annapurna Circuit Trek & 3 Mera Peak climbers, who were in Kathmandu at the time of the quake, arrived home on Monday (and they would not have been the only Brits on the flight, we think).
