Peak Lenin team waiting for a weather window
Robert Anderson just called from Peak Lenin. All 12 members of the team, plus Robert, spent two nights at Camp 2 on 27/28 July. They then climbed the 700m to Camp 3 in good time (4 hours), before descending back down to ABC/C1. Robert said they'd enjoyed some spectacular views from the ridge between C2 and C3. They've had a full rest day today in ABC/C1 and plan to rest tomorrow, before heading up and aiming to summit around 3 or 4 August. Today it's been gusting up to 50 knots on the summit, with other teams descending from C3 in strong winds and snow. The weather forecast today from Marc at Weather4Expeditions suggests the winds dropping in the next few days - we should have a clearer picture tomorrow. So far, the forecasts we've had have been close to what the team have been experiencing on the mountain, so at least that's positive. Robert feels that with our strong local guides able to break trail, if the winds do drop enough they should be in with a chance.
