Cholatse team hoping to summit this weekend
Leader of the Cholatse expedition, Matt Parkes, phoned in this morning for a weather update. His team are planning to climb to Camp 1 tomorrow and attempt the summit from there either on Saturday or Sunday. They have already been to 5,200m three or four times, including carrying loads to Camp 1, where they now have a good amount of food and fuel stocked. The route to Camp 1 is a bit more technically difficult this year, being set further to the right on rock. However, above there their main issue will likely be soft powdery snow, reported by teams who summited today and our Sirdar, Pem Chiri, who climbed very high on the mountain whilst fixing rope.
Next week it is forecast to become more windy, so we wish Matt and the team the best of luck on their climb to the top whilst the weather is still set fair.
