5 Top Tips for Ski Tourers

Starting to think about the Ski Touring season? Here's IFMGA Guide, Andy Owen's tips:

1 : Familiarity with your bindings. Make sure you know the ins and outs of your bindings by heart and have tools to adjust and clear ice.

2: Comfy boots. You spend a lot of time in them, make sure you get a good fit, know how to adjust them for skinning and have good socks.

3 : Learn to put on/pack skins before your on a cold windy hillside with a 180cm sticky flag blowing about.

4 : Get a pack that fits. Everyone is different so finding the perfect ski touring pack really depends on your body. Find a pack that sits well on your shoulders and doesn`t swing about mid turn.

5 : Find a sun hat you can ski in. Particularly in the spring it can be warm at the end of the afternoon. Fixing your peaked cap with a buff helps keep your hat with you
