2011 Scottish Winter Courses

Bookings are starting to come in thick and fast for this coming winter's Scottish Winter Courses. Once again, we'll be based at the excellent Ballachulish Hotel, on the West Coast of Scotland. We therefore have easy access to Glencoe, Ben Nevis, the Mamores and Aonach Mor. The programme includes 4 courses - the Introductory Winter Mountaineering, Introductory Long Weekend, Winter Mountaineering and Snow and Ice Climbing. The first two of these courses are perfect for keen, summer hill walkers who would like to gain the skills and confidence to tackle Scotland's mountains in winter. 'Winter Mountaineering' is for those who aspire to climb pitched routes, with the second half of the week getting you onto steeper ground where you need to use an ice axe and ice hammer. For 2011, the Snow and Ice Climbing course will be at a higher level, suitable for those who want to try Grade V routes. Each season, we also organise a lot of private instruction and guiding. Now is the time to get in touch if you would like us to arrange this for you.
