1 place on Ski Gran Paradiso
We're planning to do the classic hut-to-hut tour through the Gran Paradiso National Park this coming April. There is now just 1 place available on this tour. Starting from Valnontey, we'll ski to the Vittorio Sella hut (2,579m) and ascend Punta Rossa (3,630m) the following day, before continuing to the Chabod Hut on Gran Paradiso, the highest mountain entirely within Italy. From the Chabod hut, we hope to traverse Gran Paradiso to the Vittorio Emanuele hut. The ascent involves skinning up the glacier and some steep walking in crampons at the top, with a short scramble to the summit. The views from the top are incredible on a clear spring day. The next day we cross the Col de Gran Paradiso (3,335m) and descend to the beautifully-situated Rifugio Pontese (2,217m), before traversing the Col de Teleccio (3,304m) to eventually pop out at Lillaz (home of much classic icefall climbing during the winter) on our final day. Expect friendly huts with great food (and coffee of course!)
