7000m peak news

We currently have 7000m teams on Peak Lenin (Kyrgyzstan) and Spantik (Pakistan).

On Monday, leader of Peak Lenin, Chris Groves sent a video from Yuhin Peak 5100m which they climbed as part of their acclimatisation (video available on our Instagram). Reportedly there had been a lot of snow on the mountain, as they met climbers descending who were unable to summit Lenin due to the amount of snow. Hopefully it will settle over the coming days, as they have until 28 July.

On Spantik, David Hamilton has messaged today to say that their expedition is over. "No consistent weather pattern. Rain and snow every day. Deep unstable snow on the mountain." They will try and recover their kit from Camp 2 before returning to Skardu early. Elsewhere in the Karakoram, Alun Richardson messaged today to say "Wow. Simply wow sunrise on K2". His team is at Concordia and planning to visit K2 Base Camp in the next couple of days.
