More Aconcagua summits!

Well done to Andy Chapman's Aconcagua team, who were able to summit on 21 January. Two team members left the expedition before the summit push, with the remaining six, Andy and guides Diego and Nikki departing base camp for the top on 17 January. Due to very windy and cold weather they spent an additional night at Camp 2 (Nido de Condores) before moving up to high camp. Summit day started at 0330hrs. It took the team 3 hours to reach the traverse where the wind was brutal to begin with, but it eased once they'd reached the 'Pinnacle'. At 1000rs they were at 'The Cave' and in the sun. They continued slowly to the summit, arriving at 1245hrs (7hrs 45 mins). It was -16c with light winds on the summit, so they spent almost 45 minutes there before descending quickly in 2.5hrs back to high camp. All team members who left base camp reached the summit.

Our 20 December - 11 January 2026 expedition is now half-full. More 2025-26 dates are available.
