Training for Kilimanjaro - 16-week plan
We're increasingly asked whether we have training plans for Kilimanjaro, so we've put together a detailed PDF with an example 16-week plan. Here's a snapshot of the opening paragraph:
What are we training for?
The end goal is being able to complete back-to-back days of mountain activity - specifically 6 - 8 hours walking per day, culminating in a 12 - 15-hour summit day round-trip, where you'll climb 1,200m in ascent and descend 2,000m. The terrain underfoot is rocky in places with loose stones and scree. And you are doing this at high-altitude, where there is about half as much oxygen available in the atmosphere than there is at sea level.
