Alpamayo Summits!
Jamie updates from Huaraz: "Buenos Dias from Huaraz. Here’s a few select photos and the summit updates. Photos from 08.20am Tuesday showing Jagged Globe teams topping out on the French Basque route on Alpamayo. IFMGA Francisco Ostos with Mark and Chris, Aspirant Guide Hernan with Laura and David. A massive day starting at midnight, descending to Base Camp that evening, with huge support from our brilliant crew. The French Direct route had a large lump halfway up, so this year’s safest line was via the French Basque route. It required a 10+m grade V cascade pitch to overcome the bergschrund. Francisco and Hernan fixed a rope on it the previous morning in daylight, to make their subsequent ascent possible. A lot of careful consideration went into the ascent. Those of us at col camp waited till the teams were clearing the schrund on descent, before starting off down to base camp. Col Camp was a high point in itself for Edi, Liz, Colin, Saul and myself, with our wonderful crew.
