Tour du Mont Blanc - South

The first half of the TMB from Chamonix to Le Fouly

The Tour du Mont Blanc (the TMB) is the classic circumnavigation of Western Europe’s highest mountain. The traditional itinerary takes 11 to 12 days to walk whilst, typically, schedules purporting to trek just “the best of the circuit” aim to do so in under a week, meaning, unavoidably, they miss a lot of the good stuff out. On the other hand, we realise that taking almost 2 weeks to do the full circuit, in one blast, is hard for some people to get the time away. So, we have split the circuit into 2 halves, and added a twist to each, so that nothing is missed out (except one day walking along a valley bottom, which amounts to little more than a hotel move). This way, you can do a single week if you prefer, completing the whole of the north or south side of Mont Blanc, or join the weeks together, consecutively, to do the TMB in one shot.

Tailor-made option

We can organise this trek on a ‘tailor-made’ private basis for groups of friends, families, clubs, charities or any other group. Depending on your trekking experience, you may want a Jagged Globe leader or go ‘self-led’ with the assistance of local guides. The cost of going private can be surprisingly reasonable, particularly if you take the self-led option. Please contact us to discuss the itinerary and your preferred dates. We will then send you a quote, with no obligation.

Experience Required

To complete the TMB, you do not need any previous experience of mountain walking, but you will need to get ready for your time in the Alps if you are to succeed. To enjoy the TMB, you should prepare in the weeks ahead by building up to regular walks of 10 to 15Km, whilst carrying a daypack of 7 to 9 Kg – hopefully with some walking days back-to-back.
