One of the finest mountain treks in the world

Introduction

UPDATE: 11 October 2022. Jagged Globe had three teams cross the Gondogoro La in summer 2022 (one trek team and two climbing teams, who had been on Broad Peak and Gasherbrum II). Whilst the route up to the La from Ali Camp is very enjoyable and low risk on snow, the descent is steep and down rock slabs with loose scree. The danger from rockfall on the descent has increased significantly and there is no obvious way to mitigate this risk. We have therefore decided to no longer offer this K2 Base Camp and Gondogoro La itinerary to trekkers. Instead, we now offer a K2 Base Camp Trek that returns down the Baltoro Glacier.

Join us on the K2 Base Camp and Gondogoro La trek

  • Each trek has a UK expedition leader
  • Cross the Gondogoro La (5,585m) high glaciated pass

Tailor Made Trips

We can organise this trek on a ‘tailor-made’ private basis for groups of friends, families, clubs, charities or any other group. The cost of going private can be surprisingly reasonable. Please contact us to discuss the itinerary and your preferred dates. We will then send you a quote, with no obligation.

Experience Required

To join the Jagged Globe K2 Base Camp and Gondogoro La trek you need:

  • A good standard of fitness gained from regular mountain walking. Those who have ticked off a dozen or so Munros in winter conditions would be particularly suited to this type of trek.
  • Previous experience of remote camping.
  • Experience of using an ice axe and crampons in winter conditions. Our Introductory Long Weekend in Scotland would be a suitable course, as would our Introductory Alpine Techniques course in Switzerland.

Additional Information

If you wish to discuss any aspect of the trek or your suitability for it, please phone +44 (0)114 276 3322 or contact us.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary, but as this is Adventure Travel in a remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it. Weather conditions, road conditions, vehicle breakdowns, internal flight delays, the availability of porters and the health of trekkers can all contribute to changes. The Trek Leader and our local agent will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but an easy going nature will be an asset!
