Mont Blanc Italian Route

The Gonella Hut finally re-opened in summer 2011, with the normal route from Italy, the 'Aiguille Grises', being in decent condition during July and early August and getting a few ascents. Next summer, we're offering three routes on Mont Blanc, including the Aiguille Grises, which is graded PD+. It climbs from the Gonella Hut at 1,760m to join the Go˚ter Route at the DÙme du Go˚ter (4,304m). From there, it's 'only' a further 504m to the summit to complete a total of 1,760m of ascent. We plan to descend the Go˚ter Route, though there's always the option of continuing down to the Cosmiques for the full traverse! You need to be extremely fit for this one, and expect some 'interesting' crevassing above the Gonella Hut on the Glacier du Dome. We'll get acclimatised in Italy on Gran Paradiso and Tresenta. If you fancy another route on the Mont Blanc, we're offering climb via the Go˚ter Route or the North East Ridge from the Col du Midi. Most people who climb Mont Blanc with Jagged Globe do so as an extension to one of our other courses. However, if you're fit and acclimatise well, and if you're lucky with the weather, then a week is doable.
