Magical ski touring away from the crowds

Introduction

The mountains surrounding the magical eastern fjords of Iceland are a relatively unexplored and unspoilt skiers paradise. Far from the crowds, we will be skiing from summits rising to a maximum of 1,200m right down to the clear blue sea. We will stop in fishing villages for a pre-ski coffee or post-ski beer and a perhaps a dip in geothermal pools. Each day we return to our comfortable cabins by the sea for a soak in the hot tub and dinner based on local delicacies such as reindeer, fresh fish and Greenland shark. There is also a pizza restaurant.

Grade: 10B
For successful participation on this trip you should be a fit, confident off-piste skier at ease on slopes to 35° and on all snow types. You need to have some ski touring experience. You can ski for all six days or take a rest day at any time if desired. We will be aiming for 1,000m to 1,600m days, more if requested. Light packs.

Day 1:	Arrive at Keflavik airport. We then pick up the van and head off on the magnificent southern coastal route to the east. We will probably get as far as Hella. Dinner and hotel night.
Day 2 - 11:	Skiing - please contact us for an itinerary.
