Ski the mountains of the Azeri North West

Introduction

Iran was arguably the trip of the year in 2015 and it’s wonderful to think that we’ll be there again in 2017 with Mohammad, Haji and Hamad as companions. This time we’re off to ski in the mountains of the Azeri North West. Western Iran is a real ethnic and linguistic mix, rarely visited by westerners. The mountains, including Iran’s third highest, Mt Sabalan (4,811m) have been skied, but we only know of one person who has done so. (We summited Damavand last year and skied very close to Alam Kouh, the second highest peak).

There is an option to visit the beautiful cities of Esfahan and Shiraz before we start skiing - see 'Optional Esfahan and Shiraz extension' on the itinerary tab.

Start point: Tabriz
Grade: 10D
