The Carpathian Mountains

Introduction

The Carpathian Mountains, second only to the Alps in size, form a 1,500km arc through central Europe. The Fagarash peaks of Transylvania are the highest in Romania and it is here that we will begin our skiing, from Balea Lake. Balea lies in the heart of spectacular alpine scenery and offers access to many suitable ski touring objectives. We then head to Brasov, visiting the famous Bran Castle. After skiing there we finish our trip in the lovely town of Sinaia ski touring in the Bucegi Mountains.

Start point: Bucharest
